Is Extreme Cold Affecting Your Vein Health? Brookfield Specialist Warns “Chronically Cold Feet” May Signal Poor Circulation

Brookfield, WI, January 22, 2025—As Brookfield residents cope with frigid temperatures across the Midwest, some find that fuzzy socks and heated blankets are not enough to keep them warm. However, experts warn that if your feet remain cold even indoors, the issue may not be with the furnace, but with your vascular system.

To help residents distinguish between a winter chill and a medical concern, USA Vein Clinics is hosting a Free Wellness & Screening Event, “Let’s Talk Veins” from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 26, 2026, at their Brookfield location, 245 South Executive Drive, Ste. 350.

Stuart Feldman, D.O., a specialist at USA Vein Clinics, cautions that extreme cold can mask symptoms of underlying vein disease and peripheral circulation issues.

“When temperatures drop, your body naturally constricts blood vessels to protect your core organs. This is called vasoconstriction,” explains Dr. Feldman. “However, for the millions of Americans living with vein disease or poor circulation, this narrowing is amplified. If your legs feel heavy, achy, or stay ice-cold despite being wrapped in blankets, your veins may be struggling to return blood to your heart.”

Chronically cold feet are often one of the first visible warning signs of poor circulation. When veins or arteries are compromised, oxygen-rich blood cannot reach the extremities efficiently. If left untreated, what starts as “cold feet” can progress into:

  • Chronic Venous Insufficiency: Malfunctioning valves that cause blood to pool in the legs.
  • Heightened Leg Pain: Cramping or “stabbing” sensations that worsen in low temperatures.
  • Increased Swelling: Fluid buildup (edema) that makes winter boots feel tight and uncomfortable.

Attendees will have the opportunity to speak with vascular experts, receive preliminary vein screening, and learn about minimally invasive treatments that can restore circulation and “thaw out” chronic coldness.

Registration is recommended to ensure a screening slot and lunch. To RSVP, visit https://www.eventbrite.com/e/lets-talk-veins-brookfield-free-vein-screening-event-lunch-tickets-1978669679275?aff=ebdsoporgprofile  or call (224) 661-1824.
