WOR 710, The Voice of New York, reported on an interview with Dr. Yan Katsnelson, founder and CEO of USA Vein Clinics, following news that President Trump has been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency (CVI). Speaking on the Mendte in the Morning program, Dr. Katsnelson offered expert insight into the condition and what it means for the president’s health going forward.
Dr. Katsnelson emphasized that CVI, specifically superficial venous insufficiency, is a common circulatory issue, especially in older adults. “About 30% of adults at his age suffer from this condition,” he told host Larry Mendte. “It’s basically congestion caused by a broken valve preventing used blood from returning to the heart. It’s very common, easy to diagnose, and easily treatable.”
Katsnelson also explained that while some symptoms like leg swelling, skin discoloration, and varicose veins may be recognizable to patients, the most accurate diagnosis is made using a vascular ultrasound performed in a standing position to evaluate how the veins function under gravity.
The interview brought national attention to a condition that affects millions but often goes undiagnosed. USA Vein Clinics remains committed to educating the public and providing non-surgical, outpatient treatment options for those living with venous insufficiency.
