Social media personality Frank Fleming, also known as ‘Frank the Tank’ on Barstool Sports, was recently hospitalized over a burst varicose vein, US Weekly reported. Fleming had bled profusely from his foot while he was walking, but he wasn’t aware that he had varicose veins until he was at the hospital.
Varicose veins can burst when increased pressure in the affected vein causes it to rupture. This often stems from vein disease, which occurs when damaged valves inside the leg veins cause blood to pool, leading to leg swelling and the development of varicose veins. Burst varicose veins can also result from something as minor as a small bump. In Fleming’s case, he was simply walking.
Before his injury, Fleming was sharing his remarkable weight loss journey on social media, aiming to walk 20 thousand steps a day. Since he began his journey in 2020, he has lost over 150 pounds and recently weighed below 350. Although his burst varicose vein set him back briefly, Fleming is eager to resume walking in a few days.
Frank the Tank’s story is a powerful reminder that vein disease can be a silent threat. A simple walk shouldn’t lead to a hospital visit. If you have visible varicose veins or are experiencing symptoms like leg swelling, pain, or heaviness, don’t wait for a burst vein to take action.
