Foam Sclerotherapy
Foam Sclerotherapy Varicose Vein Treatment

Foam schlerotherapy is designed for cosmetic removal of spider veins. The veins that are treated by schlerotherapy are generally small and usually removed solely for cosmetic purposes.
Foam sclerotherapy is a technique that involves injecting “foamed sclerosant drugs” in to a blood vessel using a syringe. The sclerosent drugs are mixed with air or carbon dioxide either in a syringe or by using mechanical pumps. This increases the surface area of the drug.
The foam sclerosant drug is much more likely to cause sclerosis, also known as the thickening of the vessel wall and sealing off the blood flow, than the liquid drug. Unlike the liquid drug, the foam drug does not mix with the blood in the vessel and instead displaces it. This avoids the dilution of the drug and causes maximal sclerosant action.
